This mod will add Message number referencing to RBBS ver 17a
The orig version was put out for RBBS ver 15 in a file called
THREAD.ARC, there was a second release called THREAD2.ARC
you will need a file called THREAD.EXE to maintain the files
created by the thread mods to keep track of the message numbers
Many BBS's still have the orig Thread files and if you can't find it
I keep the Un- modified THREAD2.ARC file on my BBS.........
The reason I did NOT include the THREAD.EXE file in this merge is so the
Original Author will recieve the credit due for the mods... I only updated
it to be compatiable with newer versions of RBBS...You may also want to just
DELETE the files created by the THREAD routines when PACKING the messsage
base in that case you do NOT need the THREAD.EXE file
The DGS system mods are very similar to this one so if you have those installed
there is no need to add this one unless you think you like it better.
Since this mod will create the file needed to reference the message numbers
it will not work as intended if you RENUMBER your messages with CONFIG
all the files created for the message threading end with a T
example: MAINT is the reference file for messages in MAIN
If you are running a subboard or conference called GAMES the thread file
for this will be named GAMEST. For a sub board called SYSOPS it is named
SYSOPST....to run the THREAD.EXE just enter THREAD from the DOS prompt
when asked for a file name enter the one you wish to update.....
the only time I ever run the THREAD.EXE is after I pack the messages
which is about one every 2 months.
MERGE file created by BLED21
Mege to be applied to the un modified rbbs 17a
If you have mods in your version of RBBS then please review the MRG files
and compare the lines changed so none of your mods get over written.
I have also included a new RBBS-VAR.BAS file..do NOT use this if you have
other mods. just add the variables commented as 'THREAD MOD to your
RBBS-VAR.BAS file
I have include a BATCH file to apply the mrg... you must edit the file names
and subdirs to match you setup.
Enjoy !!! Pete Eibl (Maple Street BBS 1-414-771-2805)
